Page was an influential businessman and philanthropist who founded the town of Sand Springs in 1911. Page intended Sand Springs to be a safe haven for the numerous impoverished women and children who were living in Oklahoma, which at the time was just a territory. Because of Sand Springs close proximity to Tulsa (before its founding, the Sand Springs area had been called West Tulsa), the town flourished.
